Tony Allen "Black Series" feat. Amp Fiddler

The ruling Grand Vizier of poly-rhythmics! When Fela Kuti envisioned afrobeat at the dawn of the 70’s in Nigeria, Tony Allen created the rhythms for the new style. “Without Tony there would be no afrobeat”, said Fela. Brian Eno calls him “perhaps the greatest drummer that ever lived”. Allen’s Black Series will introduce Pori to one very special guest: singer/keyboardist Amp Fiddler from Detroit, who came to fame via Parliament and Funkadelic.

After many a high status album with Fela and as a leader, Tony Allen moved to Paris and has popped up left and right in the last few years. He played with Damon Albarn and Paul Simonon in The Good, The Bad & The Queen, and also worked with Air, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Jimi Tenor. Rocketjuice & The Moon, his latest project with Albarn and Red Hot Chili Pepper Flea, releases its debut album this year. Amp Fiddler has also released four albums and worked with artists, like Prince, Maxwell and Was (Not Was).
