Festival year 1993
The official poster of Pori Jazz 93 was designed by French comic artist Jacques Loustal and it was published during the Turku Comic Event at the end of September 1992.
In 1993 the festival got started on July 10th and it closed on July 18th. The weather was tricky throughout the festival – one moment it was raining cats and dogs only to make way for the sun.
11 venues and 330 hours of music performed by 540 musicians were some of the statistics in 1993. There were 540 voluntary workers making sure that everything worked out the way it was supposed to. Some 400 reporters (100 from abroad) made sure Pori Jazz was covered in media.
The festival managed to attract 90 000 people.
In addition to the festival Pori offered plenty of other events like the Alvar Gullichen’s Bonk Business Inc -exhibition at the Art Museum. Word “jazz” was added to everything – you could join the Jazz Jogging event or play Jazz Golf just to mention some of the attractions.
