Festival year 1999
34th festival started on July 9th and the last concert was played on July 18th. 574 musicians (98 groups of which 34 were Finnish) played at 13 venues. There were 117 concerts and this time the festival offered 63 concerts free of charge. The festival attracted 130 000 people and 60 000 tickets were sold.
70% of music was pure jazz and the rest was rhythm music closely related to jazz.
Ari Jokelainen was awarded as the artist of the year.
