Festival year 1980
In a way 1980 was a year of celebration for the festival because it had reached the respectable age of 15 years but the teenager decided to celebrate by working even harder and so the 15th anniversary wasn’t notable in any specific way. Festival started on July 10th and lasted up until July 13th.
The Kirjurinluoto concert venue got improved during the summer of 1980 as the city of Pori funded proper benches for 5 000 people and built pathways in the park to protect the lawn among other things. Also a new stage was built next to the old one in order maintain the concert schedules.
The artistic level of the festival was considered to be mediocre. George Coleman Octet was the favorite performer and the best jam sessions were lead by Buddy Waters.
