Greve_Friis_Berre
A real dream gig for fans of total improvisation and unbriddled avantgarde. Two years of active performing has made the trio a very tight unit. There’s an interesting underlying charge in this line-up, because electric bass player Peter Friis Nielsen is a true veteran and star of the Copenhagen experimental jazz scene since the 60’s, while his compatriot saxist Lars Greve and the Norwegian drummer Håkon Berre represent the new generation of Scandinavian jazz. Their debut album is released next spring.
Nielsen has a high status in the Danish jazz circles. His experience and recorded catalogue are massive. Some of his most important co-conspirators are John Tchicai, Evan Parker, Marilyn Mazur and Peter Brötzmann. Greve and Berre play together also in The Maria Faust Group and Tahina. Individually their background holds names, like Angel, Girls In Airports, haUtUllin, Kasper Tranberg’s Fluidity and Niels Prǣstholm’s Gyroscope String Trio.
