Mikko Karjalainen Jam Session with Antti Kujanpää

(FIN)
modern jazz, soul jazz, nu-jazz

One of Finland’s top trumpetists hosts jam sessions at CafĂ© Jazz and also plays a gig with his own quintet, the Mikko Karjalainen Fellowship, a cool and soulful 60’s Blue Note-type affair with top-notch musicians.

Schooled at the Sibelius Academy’s jazz department and inspired by Clifford Brown and Freddie Hubbard, Karjalainen is a member of the Ricky-Tick Big Band and the Great Helsinki Swing Band. Many pop acts, like Anna Puu, Laura Sippola, Accu and Lemonator, have also used him on their records. Mikko has shared the stage with the likes of Joe Lovano and Kenny Garrett.
