Modern and contemporary jazz, respecting the tradition. There is influence of Latin and other dance music on the rhythmic side.

Hailing from Jyväskylä in middle Finland, Jouni Hokkanen started early on on guitar, but changed later to first electric and then double bass studying them at the Jyväskylä and Pori Conservatories. Now he teaches them himself. He used to be heavily into fusion, but recently the accent has moved on to more acoustic mainstream jazz, which is the predominant style on his two albums, In One’s Element and Jazzoo.

Jouni has gathered experience by playing in the Pori and Rauma Big Bands and the smaller groups of Kari and Antti Sarpila, to name but four.
