Jo´ Buddy & Down Home King III
(FIN)
downhome blues with soul, country & R&R influence
Nothing less than one of the very best deep blues acts working today! These guys never picked cotton, but their laid-back boogie rolling and snaky funky New Orleans/delta sound just can’t be beat. It’s raw, lowdown and spiritually uplifting.
Tyko “Down Home King III” Haapala – who has another career as a rapper – is totally at home, whether he rolls the laidback boogie or gets second line funky. Jussi “Jo’ Buddy” Raulamo’s guitar work, with and without slide, wanders from Mississippi/Louisiana hoodoo to fat country twang and sometimes cosmic psychedelia. The catch is that the ever-varied combination of different layers surprises and his singing is as soulful as his playing.
No wonder that their albums, Everything’s Gonna Be Alright! and Grits & Rattles, have drawn unhinged praise in the music papers around the world. They have fans, like Keith Richards, Wilco Johnson, Kim Wilson and Roy Gaines, to name a few.
