Gustav Lundgren Quartet feat. Teemu Viinikainen
(SWE/FIN)
modern jazz, be-bop
“Guitarist Gustav Lundgren’s quartet is awesome! The band’s vitality is the mark of real jazz”, jazz journalist Göran Olson wrote of this Swedish band already in 2004. Couple of years later the Swedish papers called Lundgren “a fully-formed world-class player” and “unbelievably gifted musician”.
Born in Stockholm in 1980, the guitarist/composer has received several jazz-prizes and even a personal guitar model from AJL Guitars. He has done four albums as a leader and plays on records by Lisa Nilsson, Mauro Scocco, Hot Club de Suede and Fredrik Lindborg Quartet, among others. He has also worked with Jonas Kullhammar, Jimmy Rosenberg, John Nugent and Marian Petrescu.
In Pori the band features as a special guest Teemu Viinikainen, who is one of Finland’s premier jazz guitarists. Teemu has also collaborated with saxist Jukka Perko and clarinetist Antti Sarpila. Currently he has a guitar duo with fellow Finn Niklas Winter.
