Metro Special Edition feat. Randy Brecker & Dave Weckl
(US)
fusion & contemporary jazz, funk
The funky and often cinematic love child of some of the hottest fusion jazzers ever. Honed to perfection during almost 15 years, while performing songs by all concerned.
Metro was started by keyboardist Mitchel Forman and guitarist Chuck Loeb, who became close in alto master Stan Getz’s band in the 70’s. However, their common dream came true only in 1994 as
both men were extremely sought-after musicians. Forman worked with Gerry Mulligan, Astrud Gilberto, Carla Bley and Mahavishnu Orchestra, while Loeb’s employers include Wayne Shorter, Ray Barreto,
Hubert Laws and Steps Ahead. Both have also several solo albums.
The rest of the Metro are hard-boiled pros who can tackle any style. There is Randy Brecker (Brecker Bros, BS&T, J. Pastorius) on trumpet , Eric Marienthal (C. Corea, B. Bacharach, S. Wonder) on
saxophones, Gerald Veasley (J.Zawinul) on bass and Dave Weckl (Corea, Brecker Bros) on drums. Metro has so far released six albums, the latest being Express on Forman’s Marsis label.
