Little Feat
(US)
Rock, blues, soul, country
Melodic Californian rock, blues, New Orleans-influenced funk, jazzy thinking in solos, bittersweet C&W, rolling boogie, gospel-singing, red hot old school rock’n’roll… They all mix in
this honorable melting pot of American music so that the end result is stricktly Little Feat.
Founded by the brilliant singer, songsmith and slide-genius Lowell George in 1969 after his exit from Zappa’s Mother’s of Invention, Little Feat blew up suddenly 10 years later when George
tragically died. After some years in disarray the rest of the team realized how unique the band’s chemistry was.
Ever since they have gone on with the original personnel, except that Shaun Murphy is the singer. Their close old friend, guitarist Fred Tackett, is also on board. The second incarnation has released
several fine records, but it’s on stage where these killer players and singers really shine. When the mood takes them, they pepper their own mighty catalogue with personal renditions of Dylan, The Band
or Phish material.
