Janna
(FIN)
soul, funk, modern R&B
Finnish funk & soul are on a steep rise and this beautiful young singer is part of that joyous upward movement.
Being the daughter of famous Finnish soul/pop singer Maarit and her guitar- playing husband Sami Hurmerinta, Janna had music in her blood from the start. She has sung all her life, but last year she
released her first solo album Right Now. Self-produced in tandem with Quintessence’s keyboard wizard/singer Tuomo Prättälä and guitarist Aki Haarala, it is a combination of solid old
school playing and smoother neo-soul ethics. She has a sexy nasal, agile voice, not unlike her mother, and she is a capable keyboard player. You can also hear Janna on rapper Paleface’s Studio Tan
album and on the recent Lasse Mårtensson tribute.
