Dalindèo feat. Michiko
(FIN)
Groovy pop jazz with Brazilian & funk influence)
Led by guitarist Valtteri Pöyhönen, this sextet will melt your heart and move your body with its feather-light groovy dance jazz instigating flashbacks of the 60’s French movies, busy
metropolises and the Copacabana beach crawling with bikini-clad beauties.
Dalindèo has so far only one album, the excellent Open Scenes, but it is one of those not that common jazz bands that you can summarize with the magic word hip. Well, their record company is
Ricky-Tick and the producer Tuomas Kallio of the Five Corners Quintet -fame, both of them cultivators of the very thing. The guest vocalist on the record is the lovely Japanese Michiko, who brings to mind
young Astrud Gilberto. Pöyhönen, on his part, is a brilliant tunesmith. While it’s hard not to hum along with his fascinatingly cinematic, airy and sensual melodies that caress the ear like a
summer wind, the band also kicks ass with a no-nonsense funkiness and the solos have real substance.
