Artturi Rönkä Quartet

This young quartet won The Young Nordic Jazz Comets competition in Finland last year and came second in the band category of Belgium’s Jazz Hoielaart. Their material draws on the modern jazz and also classical tradition and is mostly composed by pianist Artturi Rönkä, who currently studies at the Paris Conservatoire. He has already won several composition competitions. The band’s sound is marked by tight ensemble playing and delicately interacting improvisation.
