Timo Lassy Band & Sami Hedberg
”He has a story telling approach to soloing”, The Guardian said of Timo Lassy. His warm, occasionally Latin-tinged groovy style echoes the bluesy soul of Cannonball Adderley and Gene Ammons, while being solidly grounded in Coltrane and Parker. Whether it’s tenor, baritone or flute, Timo delivers. That’s why everybody wants him on their record. Now that he has a very special guest with him, one of Finland’s most successful stand-up artists, Sami Hedberg, it’s gonna be funny, too. ”Sometimes 1+1=3”, Image magazine commented the unique combination, after checking it out in a club.
Timo Lassy came to fame 10 years ago in the hard-bopping U-Street All Stars, whose two albums won them a lot of international praise. His status grew even more with the fabulous 5 Corners Quintet and their three excellent albums. Lassy was also part of the 70’s funky Teddy Rok 7 and the afro-based Rhythm Funk Masters. The sharp dressing saxist has done two albums (The Soul & Jazz of TL, Round Two) as leader and the third is in the works.
