Olli Hirvonen Quartet

The young jazz guitar aficionado from Helsinki presents us his cool quartet. As the other main soloist is vibraphonist Panu Savolainen, the band’s sound is truly melodic and liquid-like in a quite classic mould. Jim Hall and Joe Pass spring to mind.

Olli and Panu also play in the Ohne trio with clarinet/sax player Jens Böckamp. Currently studying at the Sibelius Academy’s Jazz Department and soon starting at the Manhattan School of Music, Olli Hirvonen has played in the mighty UMO Jazz Orchestra and the Sibelius Academy Big Band. On the pop side he has worked with singers Sami Saari, Veeti Kallio and Paula Koivuniemi.
