Ojos de Brujo
The 9 piece band from Barcelona describes its music as ”hip-hop flamencillo”. In other words they mix rap and breakbeat, and elements from Indian and Cuban music, with flamenco, while the lyrics often critisize society’s inequality. Fiery rhythms and rhymes in a multi-cultural melting pot!
Ojos de Brujo, meaning The Sorcerer’s Eyes (which see beneath the surface), was founded at the end of the last millenium. They recorded their debut album Vengue for a major label, but then started their own company La Fabrica de Colores, so that they can make music totally free from the pressures of the record industry. So far they have made eight albums. Aocaña and the collection Corriento Vital de 10 Años being the latest. They keep touring all over the world from Europe and US to Asia and South-America.
