Hoedown feat. Jukka Gustavson & Jonna Tervomaa

A superb roots music band features singer/organist Jukka Gustavson (a legend in Finnish rock started in the prog-rocking Wigwam and has since made many excellent solo albums) and Jonna Tervomaa, one of our best current female singers. They have fine songwriters in Esa Kaartamo, Mika Kuokkanen and Ninni Poijärvi, but they also offer classy covers of old blues, country and rock gems and chosen nuggets from the likes of The Band, Little Feat, J.J. Cale and Jackson Browne.

Howdown was born out of sheer passion for American roots music in 2001. The band has honed its style to perfection in its own club, where they have had as guests Finnish top figures. like Tuomari Nurmio, J. Karjalainen and Maarit Hurmerinta, as well as Americans, like Martha Scanlan and the Stuart Brothers.

So far they have two albums: Hoedown and the double CD Black & White, which really reveals the extend of their vision and chops. Hoedown also feature through out singer/guitarist Tokela’s (The Munsons, Melrose) Honky-Tonk Merry-Go-Round album.
