Barry Guy & Maya Homburger & Janne Tuomi
Baroque music without frontiers! Britain’s number one experimental jazz doublebassist, the Swiss violin virtuoso of early baroque music and a Finnish rhythm healer take us on a trip from Bach to space age. They call it ”musical stretching”.
Barry Guy and Maya Homburger are a long standing couple. Together they run Maya Records, which releases both Middle Age and contemporary music. Guy started professionally in the 60’s and plays on a staggering amount of records. The prolific composer is the founder and leader of The London Jazz Composers’ Orchestra and The Barry Guy New Music Orchestra. He also runs several trios and duos, not to mention solo concerts.
Homburger, who plays gut-stringed violins from the 1700’s, is a highly esteemed and much recorded interpreter of early baroque works. She also manages her husband’s orchestras. Classically trained Janne Tuomi plays in the rather unique bands of Kusti Vuorinen and the late actor Markku Peltola. He has done three solo drum albums that go way beyond mere rhythm holding.
