Piano-drums tandems are rare creatures, but then again these guys are not out to follow anybody. Basically the deal is acoustic, not counting some electronic manipulations on piano, as Kerikmäe is a master of electronics. In a nut shell: this is an exciting adventure that takes winks from many a direction. Esthonian Taavi Kerikmäe is a composer/keyboardist, who has worked with Pierre Boulez, among others. He can paint electronic soundscapes as easily as whack out free funk from a Rhodes or take piano jazz into new places. His latest album is the excellent Kirme. Frenchman Eric Echampard is known for his creative and elegantly groovy rhythmics. He plays with Kimmo Pohjonen, Marc Ducret and Andy Emler, to name a few exceptional partners.
