Jazzwise-magazine called this young Scandinavian-British piano trio “one of the most exiting bands on the planet today”, while The Telegraph described it as “the most electrifying experience to be had in British jazz”. “A frenetic grooving great young band with bags of confidence”, screamed Time Out. In other words: Phronesis is very hot and hip right now!

Led by Danish double-bassist Jasper Høiby, the London-based band has British Ivo Neame on piano and Swedish Anton Eger on drums. They started in 2005 and have so far made four albums. All of them have got very favorable reviews. The latest, Walking Dark (2012), got full 5 stars in several music magazines. It is the first, where all band members contribute to the writing as well as the arranging. Their intense live gigs have received standing ovations in America and many European countries. All About Jazz hit the nail on the head, when it said that “Phronesis creates music from the heart and soul, and makes the world just that little bit better”.
