Lee Fields & The Expressions
(US)
Trends in music come and go, but real soul is always in vogue. Born and raised in North Carolina, Lee Fields specializes in that department. His first single came out in 1969 and ever since Lee’s been active on the field. Blessed with a strong raw and tender voice, he proudly carries the torch lit by Bobby Womack, James Brown, The Delfonics and other classic artists with taylor-made backing by the horn-laden Expressions. Prepare yourself for an exhilarating experience that is as funky as it is cool!
Having worked in the past with heavy-weights like Kool & The Gang, O.V. Wright, Darrell Banks and many others, Fields has in recent years entered a renaissance period after signing with the Brooklyn-based Truth & Soul Records, whose staff is on a mission to keep real soul and funk alive. Together with The Expressions Lee has so far recorded 3 albums for the label: Problems, My World and in 2012 Faithful Man. It’s no wonder that all of them have been warmly received by both media and the public, as they offer plenty of great originals by Lee and the band plus some tastily arranged covers of pearls, like Bobby Hebb’s Sunny and The Rolling Stones’ Moonlight Mile.
