Jazzanova Live feat. Paul Randolph
(GER/US)
A pioneering group of nu-jazz, chillout and jazz house, the Berlin-based DJ/producer collective has recently turned more and more towards real instruments, while Paul Randolph is known as one of the most soulful and eclectic singers in Detroit. The groove on their joint album, Funkhaus Studio Sessions (2012), is irresistably warm.
Alexander Barck, Claas Brieler, Jürgen von Knoblauch, Roskow Kretschmann, Stefan Leisering and Axel Reinemer established Jazznova in 1995 and have so far put out three albums, not to mention countless remixes for artists, like Nu Spirit Helsinki, Azimuth, MJ Cole, Incognito and Calexico. Their songs and remixes are standard feature on any class A compilation of modern dance music.
Paul Randolph has worked with afro legend Tony Allen, gospel singer Odetta, Miles Davis’ guitarist Dennis Coffey and funk wizard Amp Fiddler, to name a few. As Mudpuppy’s vocalist he sang New Orleans style R&B. He is currently writing songs for his third album and preparing a rock band.
