Wentus Blues Band
Wentus Blues Band returns to the Pori delta after ten year break. This band has lived in the core of the Nordic blues boom since its birth in 1986. WBB has risen through the ranks with hard work and no hold barred attitude – 150 shows per year. The band has toured in 15 countries and released 10 albums, the latest being “Woodstock”, which was recorded in Levon Helm’s studio in NY. The fact that Pete Brown, the trusted lyricist of the legendary power blues trio Cream, wrote the lyrics for three songs on the album says something about WBB’s prestige.
The most impressive recording of WBB’s history so far must be the documentary film “Family Meeting” which was shot in 2006 as a part of the bands 20th anniversary. The bluesmen from the city of Kokkola, Northern Ostrobothnia celebrated in Helsinki at the Alexander Theatre, and established blues superstars like Mick Taylor (ex-Rolling Stones), Kim Wilson (Fabulous Thunderbirds) Omar Dykes (Omar & the Howlers), Eric Bibb, Louisiana Red and Eddie Kirkland took turns on the stage with the band.
