You don’t often hear hip-hop laced with gipsy music, but that’s exactly what GG Caravan does. The result is fresh, colourful, very lively and entertaining, while it makes you think. The raps deal with problems and situations that the Romanise face in the Finnish society today and they are delivered by three of Finland’s best rhyme artists: Paleface, Redrama and Don Johnson Big Band’s Tommy Lindgren.
The 14-piece band, where you have superb players, like Marzi Nyman (guitar), Toni Porthen (drums) and Zarkus Poussa (percussion), started as a part of Our Party-campaign, funded by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the EU Commission. Tero Roininen and Samu Wuori from the band Deep Insight composed the music for the original videos. The band they gathered for the project worked so well that they decided to make also an album and start gigging. Not a bad decision: the eponymous album shot straight to number 3 on the Finnish chart.
