Sir Elwoodin Hiljaiset Värit
(FIN)
folk rock
The name means Sir Elwood’s Silent Colours. If you believe the band, they play ”lager jazz”. In reality it’s probably safest to call it Finnish language folk rock that is extremely
story and mood orientated. It nicely breaks the mould of the most typical guitar-led Finnish rock. Of their hits Viimeisellä rannalla, Neiti Kevät and Perunamaa are now
classics that every Finnish person knows.
Led by singer, songwriter and acoustic guitarist Juha Lehti, SEHV started in 1988. The debut album Varjoissa vapaan maailman came out couple of years later. It got a very warm welcome right away.
After bass player Riku Järvinen’s sudden death the band took a longish break, but finally, after finding Puppe Luomanmäki tuo hold the bottom end of the sound, they decided to continue. Lucky
for us, as they definitely are the only Sir Elwoodin Hiljaiset Värit in the whole world. They have so far put out 10 albums, the latest being Sattuman kauppa.
