Erdmann 3000 -Supermicrogravity
(GER)
contemporary jazz, avant-garde
“Avant-garde jazz that’s fun to listen to!” says Jazzthing of Erdmann 3000’s new album Supermicrogravity. Tagesspiel points out that “Erdmann’s sound makes tons of
weight flow in the air. He has learned the lesson of tradition and understands Coleman and Coltrane like few others. But he’s not standing on stage to dazzle us with his vast jazz knowledge. No,
he’s looking for a common language with the audience.”
35 year old tenorist/flutist Daniel Erdmann studied in Berlin’s national music school and did master classes by Steve Lacy and Lee Konitz, among others. He is no dry academic, but an open-minded
communicator with an ear for colours and dynamics. The music is thoroughly today and yet timeless, and has won him several prestigious jazz prizes. He has worked with a staggering amount of people from Aki
Takase and Herb Robertson to Jaak Sooäär and Kalle Kalima. In his current band Erdmann has found his blood brothers in guitarist Frank Möbus, bassist Johannes Fink and drummer John
Schröder to realize his urban vision. Trombonist Yves Robert from Vincent Courtois Quartet will join the band as a special guest.
