Festival year 1988
The 23rd festival started on July 9th and closed on the 17th. There were 80 different groups performing at 13 concert venues. To single out the favorites of the year: Eartha Kitt, Carlos Santana, Wayne Shorter, Wayne Horovitz and Odean Pope must be mentioned.
Festival accessories included trendy shirts and pants (available in black and mint green). They were advertised with phrases like: “Dress up-to-date! Wear the official symbols of truly jazzy people! Be seen wearing jazz clothing!”
