Festival year 1978
Because the summer 1977 had been a financial loss the production costs were cut for the summer 1978. The festival lasted four days starting on July 13th and closing on 16th. The venues consisted of five restaurants, Pori Theatre, Riihiketo School and Kirjurinluoto. There were 62 volunteers working at venues and of course countless others doing other important things like transporting both people and equipment.
The music was quite modern in 1978 with Ornette Coleman, Max Roach and Frank Foster along with Finnish musicians. The annual scholarship was given to Jukka-Pekka Uotila.
The festival attracted some 33 000 people and after expenses some money was left to cover the financial loss caused by the previous festival.
