song-oriented mainstream jazz with Latin influence

The daughter of Frank Robson, the vocalist in the seminal Finnish rock band Tasavallan Presidentti, is a jazzier singer than her dad, though her larger vehicle, the Jenny Robson Electric Band, tends towards groovy soul and R&B from it's jazz base. Having just returned from a maternal vacation, Jenny sings in Pori with a new acoustic trio. They do jazz standards and original compositions, often with a Latin flavor.

Born in 1975, Robson has studied classical piano and singing, first at the Pop & Jazz Conservatory and then at the Sibelius Academy's jazz department. She has made two albums on her own name: Jenny Robson (2003) and Butterfly Life (2006), but you can hear her on many other records, like Ira Kaspi's Inner Voices, NoneAlike's More Than A Mirror and a capella quartet JimJamMurMur's Lauluhilloa. She still belongs to JJMM and occasionally sings with the UMO Jazz Orchestra.

The new trio features top class Finish jazz musicians: Jukkis Uotila (drums), Juho Kivivuori (double bass) and Mikael Jacobsson (piano).

Members:
  • Robson Jenny, vocals
  • Jakobsson Mikael, piano
  • Uotila Jukkis, drums
  • Kivivuori Juho, bass
