(HAWAII)
jazz, blues, rock, funk, flamenco, ethnic, classical

Ukulele may look like a shrunken acoustic guitar, but Jake Shimabukuro does to it what Jimi Hendrix did to electric guitar. His wild and funny shows and virtuosity have left people ecstatic everywhere. Surfer Magazine described them as “awe-inspiring”.

Get a foretaste of the 32 year old Hawaiian’s skills on his much-praised new Live-album, where he attacks Bach and traditional Japanese music with the same amazing imagination as Wes Montgomery tunes and George Harrison’s While My Guitar Gently Weeps -classic, not to mention his tasty originals. All of Jake’s eight albums have won prizes in Hawaii. He has worked with Bela Fleck, Yo-Yo Ma and Ziggy Marley, among others. One critic said that Jake has dealt successfully with any artist’s greatest challenge: he has re-invented his instrument.
